I have slugs in my garden. How can I get rid of them without pesticides and as natural as possible?

Are you serious about the beer pan thing? That is nuts! Those little drunk bastards are gonna kill my plants.

Put a pie pan filled with beer out in the garden. They’ll climb in you’ll be slug-free.

take a bowl or pie tin, fill it with beer and place in the garden as level to the ground as you can get it. the slugs are attracted to beer, and they will crawl in and drown. it works for me.

Fill an aluminum pie pan with beer and sink it into the ground. The slugs will crawl into it and drown. It doesn’t sound like a legitimate answer but it is.

salt water and soap mixed together. Put 1/2 c salt into a mixture of about 1/4 c soap. Pour and use sprizer bottle to spray around in your garden. Trust me…it works. You can also pour salt directly on the critters. The salt will disolve them.

Don E has a good answer but if your want an immediate solution, you can do as I do: sprinkle cooking salt on them.

The best and cheapest way if possible is to get 2 grown chickens. Not too old but adults. Rhode Island Reds and bigger but reds are perfect. They’ll eat all day and you’ll have freash eggs. Just keep em freash water. No joke I have a large garden the chicken crap is a fertlizer and the keep the bugs away. You’ll see a huge differance.

Widely recommended is a little beer (generic is fine) in a plate or large jar lid. I’ve heard a thousand times slugs can’t resist the beer and they crawl into it, soak up too much and happy landings, etc. Use as many lids/plates as you need depending on the problem and the area you want to protect.

I have my husband pour the remnants of his beer along the edge of my hosta bed. No more slugs ( and he doesn’t drink that much!)

I pick them off by hand in the early morning or early evening. I also use crushed egg shells sprinkled around the base of my plants…the theory is they don’t like to crawl across the sharp shells. The slug and snail population in my yard has greatly decreased in the last 3 years since I’ve been doing this.

I confirm the beer pan trick really works.
You might also want to get some pots wet and keep them in your garden upside down. The slugs will go hide there during the day to keep away from the heat and you can go pick them out of their hiding place and dispose of them.

Do NOT put salt in your garden, it will harm your plants. The beer thing does work, the slugs drown in it; however, they do die happy!
You can also put Diatomaceous Earth around your plants throughout your garden. This is an environmental friendly product-organic. It will kill several kind of bugs by scraping them as they crawl over the DE, the bugs then dehydrate and die. I hope this helps.
