Are you people sure it was Billy Goat Weed? Praxelis clematidea is almost identical in every respect, its quite difficult to tell them apart, they are easily confused.

What would we rather have?A life with hardly any freedom but plenty of excess at the cost of other humans, a life of total freedom and self empowerment, or a healthy balance of the two? I think the majority of the world would all like a heathly balance of the two.Like Koa says the key word in making this happen is “sustainability”. To have freedom and excess at the same time we need to live sustainably, which means everyone has to contribute to society without going beyond the means of the earth

mashj50, people identified billy goat weed as edible based on Walking Softly With Koa 2. It was actually highlighted as an example of Koa’s dodgey ‘edibility test’.

As the producer and distributor of that DVD, don’t you wonder of the consequences if a childs liver is destroyed based on info from your DVD?

And it’s not just billy goat weed, it’s the whole shonkiness of that ‘edibility test’.

And the irony is that billy goat weed is not even true bush tucker – it’s an introduced weed!

And just in case you had some doubts about how poisonous billy goat weed is:
“..post-mortem examination revealed bloody serous fluid in coccyx-femoral joints and hemorrhages in the large muscle tissues, while liver, kidney and heart also had hemorrhages.”

    and:
“Histopathological examination showed extensive liver lesions..”

Why Koa’s so-called ‘edibility test’ failed is because he didn’t take into consideration the long term effects of plant toxins – he doesn’t know!

By the way, Bush Tucker With Koa, which has a whole chapter devoted to encouraging children to eat poisonous billy goat weed, is still being sold!

Is it possible to get worse than this?!

“..no mention”!? Are you weasling? It’s worse than that.

In Walking Softly with Koa 2 he walks up to the billy goat weed and says that he doesn’t know what it is (so much for being “very careful”!) and says that it’s ok because it passes his ‘edibility test’. Big problem – billy goat weed is posionous, and it’s obvious that his so-called edibility test is totally dodgey.

People have been eating billy goat weed because of Koa. What’s the point if you are poisoning people?

there is no mention of billy goat weed in any of the Koa Walk Softly films films ? ? If your refering to the film Koa did with kids with another film maker a few years back then that’s a different story, in the work I have done with Koa we have been very careful about which plants we recomend for consumption so please don’t make general sweeping statements about his work, In your opinion he might have got one plant right but many people have been inspired by his work & knowledge he is human

“Bush Tucker With Koa” DVD chapter 7: Billy Goat Weed.

    Girl: “Hey Koa what’s this?”
Koa: “That’s billy goat weed. Beautiful. It doesn’t taste all that nice, but actually I like it. I’ve developed a tase for it. What do you reckon?”
Girl eats it and spits it out.
Koa: Laughs “Hey, but in a survival situation.”
    Girl: “I guess.” Sounds doubtful.

    The girl knows!
However, because of this DVD lots of children have been eating billy goat weed based on Koa’s toxic advice!

    No Joke!!

In “Walking Softly With Koa – Part 2″ Koa eats billy goat weed and says its edible (although he says he doesn’t know what it is! – so much for being responsible) , and in “Bush Tucker With Koa” he identifies it and has *children* eating it as well…!!! Do you know what billy goat weed does to the liver? And that’s not the only mistake.

i DON’T KNOW WHERE YOU GOT THAT FROM BUT WE HAVE NEVER INCLUDED ANY INFORMATION IN OUR VIDEOS ABOUT BILLY GOAT WEED. i HAVE KNOWN AND WORKED WITH kOA FOR 4 YEARS NOW AND HE HAS NEVER RECOMENDED IT FOR CONSUMPTION SO PLEASE EXPLAIN HOW AND WHERE YOU HEARD THIS IT WOULD BE APPRECIATED I FIND KOA VERY AWARE IN REGARD TO TELLING PEOPLE WHAT THEY SHOULD EAT AND HE ALWAYS RESEARCHES WHAT HE RECOMMENDS SO I WOULD BE VERY SURPRISED TO FIND OUT HE WOULD DO SUCH A THING

Thanks for sharing the wisdom. What an insightful and kind man. I go ‘bush’ quite often, but in a civillised way. I would never know how to survive, really.

Regarding knowledge, it can be acquired through learning, even from books, but experience brings wisdom.

loved it. thanks for the up. I’ve got the 4 parts hosted on my main site for a week to share around. 24/7 politics is a drain. KAO was a fresh look at the reason why we fight the system, “freedom” ;)
