I would rather be “trained” to respond to my baby’s needs in the moment than after the fact- so much more pleasant to catch a poop than have to wipe it off his parts!

And aren’t parents trained to do a lot of things? Better to be trained by the baby than the US mainstream, which teaches sleeping separately in cages, mutilating boys genitals and crying it out as normal.

Re: “training the parents.” So many people say this. You could look at breastfeeding the same way. The parents are getting trained to know when their baby needs to eat. So are we going to stop breastfeeding because of that? No. If you “get trained” to feed your child, why wouldn’t you want to “get trained” to help them go to the bathroom?

Once you know the cues to look for, it is very hard to ignore your babes needs. It is kind of amazing how clearly they are trying to tell us.

Read the book “Diaper Free Baby” by Christine Gross-Loh. She has a section for how to practice EC for a baby at the 12 month stage. Good luck!

This is awesome! We’ve been doing EC with our son since he was 3 weeks old, and we love it. I really like the end when the lady is holding her baby towards the bushes. We do that, and everyone thinks it’s disgusting, but to us, it’s the most natural thing in the world! Way to go!

I joked with my spouse about doing this with our baby (hold over the toilet), as poop would fly every time we took off the diaper. Would you know… I’m now hooked on EC whenever I see my baby’s cues. It seems really natural too, like the baby knows what he/she is supposed to do.
